Here's a great perspective of global real estate investment. From the report:
"Global real estate investment volume has increased THREEFOLd since 2001, reaching another record during 2006, with US$ 580 billion of transactions, up 20% on the previous year. Investment activity remains concentrated on a small number of countries, with the US accounting for 53% of turnover, and the UK a further 16%. Although the US contineus to dominate investment activity, the greatest percentage increases have been in Asia and Europe reflecting the increasing maturity and liquidity of these markets."
