Ok.....so everyone has been talking about it wondering when it would start. Well it's here now! As many of you all probably remember we started talking about the new Airport for Panama City that is supposed to be the Mecca of all things to come.
Well, I don’t know that I would go that far, but let’s face it…it’s not a bad thing to happen to our area. Since the beginning of time Panama City has been a drive to destination. We all know what happened to Orlando and Tampa when the airports relocated and we saw an increase in the number of flights, reductions in fairs, etc. Now we don’t have Disney, but we do have the Beach. Most would agree that this forgotten coast area is definitely the clearest water in all of Florida and most of the country. When combined with the comparable prices it’s a steal. But like every other market, the basics aren’t there. There is a flood of supply. Hopefully this announcement will continue to spark the tourism we saw this year. While things were not paying for themselves and the market was down like everywhere, we did see more tourists and vacationers than we had in the past.
Please see the following on the groundbreaking and keep in mind that while this is a great bit of information, more is to follow on what other airlines will be coming into this new airport!
